Important notes about platform rules
Facebook and TikTok have specific rules when using music in videos. Please review:
- TikTok: TikTok currently limits the use of music in videos to 60 seconds or less. If your video includes a music track that plays for more than 60 seconds, TikTok may automatically mute the audio.
- Facebook: Facebook’s Rights Manager system is still evolving and, unlike YouTube, does not currently allow automatic pre-clearance of music licenses. This means you may occasionally receive copyright claims even if you’ve properly licensed the music through Thematic. Learn how to resolve Facebook claims here.
What Thematic music cannot be used for
Thematic music is not licensed for:
-
Short films, school projects, or film festivals
-
Wedding or personal videos
-
Any use outside of YouTube, social media, and podcasts as described above
If you have questions about other uses, please contact our support team or see our Music License FAQs for clarification.
